3 min read

Mount Pleasant kicks off the holiday season with Boots & Bells, an Olde West Christmas celebration on the downtown square on Thursday, November 5, 2026. Tree lighting, holiday shopping, and the start of a season that runs through December, about ten minutes from the property.

The holidays in Mount Pleasant start early, and they start on the square. Boots & Bells is the city's annual Olde West Christmas Kick-Off, set for Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM on the downtown square. It is a single evening that marks the beginning of the town's holiday calendar, and it brings together the lighting of the square, live music, holiday shopping, and the kind of community gathering that defines small-town Texas at Christmas.

Boots & Bells: An Olde West Christmas Kick-Off

Downtown Square · Mount Pleasant, TX

Holiday lighting ceremony, live entertainment, seasonal music, and late-night shopping on the square. Hosted by the City of Mount Pleasant. Check cityofmountpleasant.com for the full schedule of Boots & Bells events running through December 18.

A season of weekends

Boots & Bells is more than one night. The kick-off on November 5 starts a series of Shop Late Saturdays that run from November 6 through December 18, with downtown merchants staying open late and the square lit for the season. The Downtown Christmas Open House on November 13 adds another evening of shopping and holiday atmosphere. Together, they fill the six weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas with reasons to be downtown.

The theme is Olde West, which means you can expect the square's historic brick storefronts dressed in holiday lights, the kind of warm-glow atmosphere that photographs well and feels better in person. The lighting ceremony itself is the centerpiece: the square goes dark, then the lights come on, and the season in Mount Pleasant has officially started.

The drive from the property

The Mount Pleasant square is about ten minutes from County Road 1070 via US-80. Parking is available on the streets around the square and in public lots within walking distance. For anyone evaluating the property as a primary home or weekend retreat, Boots & Bells is a good example of how Mount Pleasant runs its community calendar: organized by the city, supported by local merchants, attended by the people who live here. A ten-minute drive puts you in the middle of it.
