Cinco de Mayo at Fair Park

4 min read

Every May, the Mount Pleasant Fairgrounds fill with carnival rides, authentic Mexican food, live Mariachi music, and the kind of community energy that draws 10,000 people to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

The 11th Annual Cinco de Mayo celebration at Fair Park is one of the largest single-day events in Titus County. Hosted by the Mount Pleasant–Titus County Chamber of Commerce and presented by Diamond C Trailers, the event brings together the region’s Hispanic and broader community for a full day of food, music, sports, and family activities. For anyone living in or visiting the area, it’s the kind of event that tells you a lot about the community—its cultural depth, its scale, and the way different traditions come together in a small Texas town.

The 2026 event

The 2026 edition took place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Mount Pleasant Fairgrounds. The event attracted up to 10,000 visitors and featured a full schedule of activities:

Carnival rides, authentic Mexican cuisine from local food vendors, a 5K race, soccer tournaments, live Mariachi bands, and traditional Mayan dancers. Hosted by the Mount Pleasant–Titus County Chamber of Commerce. The 2026 edition has already taken place. The 2027 event is typically announced through the Mount Pleasant–Titus County Chamber of Commerce.

What makes it different

What sets this event apart from a typical county fair or food festival is the cultural scope. The Mariachi bands bring the kind of live music you won’t hear at a Friday night concert series. The traditional Mayan dancers add a dimension that goes deeper than entertainment—it reflects the heritage of the community that organizes and attends the event. The soccer tournaments draw competitive teams from across the region. And the food—authentic Mexican cuisine from local vendors—is the real thing, not the Tex-Mex you find at chain restaurants off the highway.

At 10,000 attendees, Cinco de Mayo is one of the best-attended events in Titus County. It fills the fairgrounds, it fills the parking areas, and it brings a crowd that looks like the actual population of the county rather than a curated subset of it. That kind of turnout from a community-organized event tells you something about the area’s social fabric.

Getting there from the property

The Mount Pleasant Fairgrounds sit on the south side of town, a ten-minute drive from the property on County Road 1070. Paved road the entire way, no highway required. On event day, parking fills around the fairgrounds, so arriving closer to the start of the event is worth the effort. The grounds are walkable, family-friendly, and set up for the kind of crowd that comes out for a full day of activities.

For anyone evaluating the property as a primary residence or weekend retreat, Cinco de Mayo is a strong signal. It shows that Titus County has year-round community events with real attendance, cultural diversity that goes beyond what a real estate listing would suggest, and the kind of civic infrastructure—Chamber of Commerce, Fairgrounds, organized events—that makes a rural area feel connected rather than isolated.
