“The Cottage” is the work of playwright Sandy Rustin, a wickedly funny romantic farce set in the English countryside of the 1920s. A woman announces she is leaving her husband and an old love, he appears at the cottage door, and what follows is the kind of door-slamming, perfectly-time comedy that theatre groups love to sink their teeth into. Greenville Theatre Works presented it as the season production in its 2026 schedule, performed on the main stage of the Greenville Municipal Auditorium.

Community theatre on a real stage

It is easy to forget that live theatre happens in small Texas towns, and that it happens well. Greenville Theatre Works is a long-running community company that performs at the Municipal Auditorium, and the caliber of its productions draws audiences from across Hunt County. For anyone living on a quiet county road near Mount Pleasant, knowing there is a real theatre scene a straight hour down I-30 changes how you think about a Friday night.
