Three days of collegiate rodeo with slack sessions on Thursday and Friday mornings, full performances Friday and Saturday nights at 7:00 PM, and a calf dressing contest Saturday afternoon. Confirm the schedule with NTCC rodeo coverage for details.
The third rodeo of the 2026-27 NIRA Southern Region season lands at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association Priefert Arena on Greenhill Road, just minutes from the property. Northeast Texas Community College plays host, and the NTCC Eagle Rodeo Team competes against squads from across Texas and Louisiana, all chasing points toward the Collegiate National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming next June.
The weekend
The rodeo runs Thursday through Saturday. Thursday evening opens with a slack session at 7:00 PM with free admission, and Friday adds a morning slack at 9:00 AM before the first full performance at 7:00 PM. Saturday repeats the morning slack, adds a calf dressing contest in the afternoon for NTCC organizations and teams, and closes with the second full performance at 7:00 PM. General admission runs $10 for ages 12 and up, $5 for ages 5 to 11, free for children under 5, and free for NTCC students and staff with an ID.
The teams
The NTCC Eagle Rodeo Team takes on programs like Hill College, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, Panola College, Sam Houston State, Southwest Texas College, Texas A&M, and East Texas A&M. Rodeo stock comes from Wing Rodeo Company, and the Southern Region circuit feeds directly into the Collegiate National Finals, so the fall rodeos carry real stakes for every contestant in the chutes.
The venue
The Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association Priefert Arena is a working rodeo facility on the north side of town, the same home ground where the Mount Pleasant Pro Rodeo runs each spring. For anyone looking at the 8 acres as a horse property, a weekend of collegiate rodeo is a good look at the equestrian and livestock community that keeps Titus County's rural economy moving.
The drive from the property
County Road 1070 to the Priefert Arena is about ten minutes on paved roads, an easy evening out. Pair a property tour with a Friday or Saturday performance and you get a real sense of the area: small-town rodeo, college energy, and the kind of community gathering that defines Northeast Texas weekends.
